It is an exciting time to join our service as the Trust is committed to becoming a designated major trauma centre over the next 5 years and investment is also being made in elective care provision and transformation.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist to join our Musculoskeletal rotation developing specialist knowledge, skills and experience in musculoskeletal outpatients; inpatient trauma and orthopaedics; in and outpatient plastic and reconstructive surgery and hand therapy.

The post will suit individuals who have worked in an acute setting, completed their core rotations (on a Band 5 Physiotherapist rotation programme, or equivalent) or who already have experience at Band 6 and are looking to develop specialist skills in these acute services. For candidates who lack specific experience in one aspect required, we are able to offer a development opportunity appointing at B5 and providing support + training to meet B6 criteria within 6-9 months. In this post, you will be required to support our respiratory on-call and weekend services across trauma & orthopaedics and respiratory care.

Main duties of the job

To assess, prioritise and manage own caseload of in and outpatients determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner. Patient presentation may be complex/highly complex.

To train, supervise and monitor other physiotherapists, therapy assistant practitioners, assistants and students on placement, with appropriate support.

To provide clinical leadership within the specialties including educational, professional and managerial guidance.

To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and outreaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

To deputise for the Physiotherapy Operational Lead/ Senior Physiotherapy staff as required.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH's PRIDE values of People Focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

a. Acute orthopaedic trauma in patients

b. Elective orthopaedic in patients

c. Musculoskeletal out patients

d. Plastic and reconstructive surgery (in and outpatients)

e. Hand therapy
