Job summary

Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity for 2 years

This is an opportunity to lead an exciting and innovative department alongside the current Senior Sister. You will be expected to have oversight of the clinical areas, lead and manage the team, whilst promoting a safe environment for our patients.

Coronary Care is an 8 bedded unit which is located next to the Cath Labs and is the hub of our PPCI service. The unit delivers care to a range of acute and chronic conditions and can provide circulatory support via IABP, temporary pacing, CPAP for acute pulmonary oedema as well as other acute treatments.Kilverstone Ward is a 37-bed ward which cares for a range of Cardiac Conditions, both acute and chronic.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the clinical standards across both areas therefore expected to have significant clinical experience in Cardiology. You will work as a role model to promote safe care and support the team to ensure adherence to Trust Standards whilst maintaining safe staffing levels. You will be involved in recruitment, retention and budget oversight and have strong links with the rest of the Cardiology Department and wider multi-disciplinary team.

This is a job share therefore you will be required to be flexible, have excellent communication and organization skills.

  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership and support to all nursing and clerical staff
  • Act as a resource for support and guidance of own staff and at trust level, as required
  • Assist with the placement of appropriate personnel/skills across the directorate
