Plastic Surgery has an exciting opportunity to join the diverse and friendly admin team as a Receptionist. The fast-growing and developing specialty incorporates new and exciting areas of interest including the Ambulatory Procedures Unit where we run daily hand trauma and elective daycase work; a newly developed Outpatient Procedure Room; a vibrant outpatient department, all innovated collaboratively between the clinical, nursing and administrative teams.
The forward-thinking administrative team consists of Senior Secretaries, Support Secretaries, Waiting List-Co-ordinators, Patient Pathway Co-ordinator, Receptionists and Apprentices who all adopt a supportive and collaborative approach.

Main duties of the job
An enthusiastic, motivated, hard working person is required to assist with the smooth running of this busy outpatient department. As post-holder you will:o Be a member of a large dynamic admin team and will provide an essential first point of contact between the hospital, patients and their relatives, and diverse staff groups including clinicians, nurses and administrative teams.o Deal efficiently and effectively with telephone, e-mail and face-to-face enquiries from patients, relatives and staff groupso Be able to work autonomously and as part of a teamo Demonstrate attention to detail, accurately updating the patient record as patients attend clinico Able to work flexibly, be pro-active and prioritise tasks

1. To provide a support service to the technical, secretarial, medical and nursing staff of the Department. 2. To carry out receptionist duties, including prioritising and arranging appointments and maintaining the various appointment systems, identifying test requests and investigations, and co-ordinating the various clinics within the department. 3. To deal with patients and external and internal staff enquiries in person or via the telephone, in a courteous and confidential manner and provide assistance as required. 4. To ensure patients safety and well-being in the waiting area prior to them being called for their appointment and alerting appropriate staff to any cause for concern. 5. To keep a log of telephone requests for investigations in line with department policy, prioritising these and ensuring messages are conveyed to the appropriate technical staff.
