Job summary
Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA) is looking for a network blood sciences manager. EPA has Abbott Alinity instruments in each of the laboratories it serves. Within chemistry there is a thriving immunology and toxicology section. Along with University of East Anglia we operate Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Calcium and Bone Metabolism Service a supra-regional bone marker service.
A long established network Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA) is now over 10 years old and is a Hub and Spoke Network encompassing three Acute Trusts formed in 2013: The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (Hub), the James Paget University Hospital, Great Yarmouth (spoke) and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn (spoke). The post holder will be expected to work at all three sites.
EPA is part of a larger network of trusts in Suffolk, East Coast Pathology Network. This is a federated collaboration between EPA, East Suffolk North Essex Foundation Trust and West Suffolk Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of a management team for EPA consisting of: The Service Operations Manager for EPA, microbiology manager, blood sciences manager and blood transfusion manager.
The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is a 1100 bed Teaching Hospital with strong links with the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia and Norwich Research Park and provides many specialist clinical services (renal dialysis, hepatology, cardiac PPCI, oncology and haematology, autologous stem celltransplantation, ITU). It is situated on an attractive green field site a few miles outside the main city of Norwich, which is a vibrant attractive city with a great deal of history, although the countryside is not far away.
Both the James Paget University Hospital, Great Yarmouth and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn are 500 bed hospitals; JPUH is located 30 miles to the east of Norwich close to the coast and QEH is located 42 miles from Norwich in the north west of the county
We are looking for an individual, along with the clinical teams, to keep the process of continual improvements that has been set in place. Removal expenses for the successful candidate has been applied for to be discussed at interview.
