The Endocrinology & Diabetes department is a dynamic area which is expanding to meet popular demand. The department supports a full range of specialist and general clinical services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the admin & clerical team in the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes. The department works closely with the Clinical Investigation Unit, the Elsie Bertram Diabetes Centre and Eye Screening.

We're looking to recruit a motivated and diligent receptionist and booking clerk to support our busy, friendly Diabetes & Endocrinology team.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our admin team as a Receptionist and booking clerk, acting as a point of contact for outpatient bookings and telephone queries for the Elsie Bertram Diabetes Centre. Key responsibilities will include reception duties, preparing clinics, data input, supporting Diamond (a Diabetes clinical system), helping maintain waiting lists and booking appointments.

You will be able to work as part of a team using your own initiative where necessary to help manage the day-to-day running of administrative clinical responsibilities. You will need strong communication skills, experience dealing with members of the public along with an excellent telephone manner. You will be flexible, have a friendly demeanour with a positive attitude.

Main duties of the job

We currently run our reception service from 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday, with one evening shift a month till 8pm. Future clinic times may change and evening and weekend cover would then be needed.

This post is for 21.5 hours per week which will typically comprise of one day at our Rouen Road office working with the booking team and 2 days at the NNUH working for Reception with one of those days working until 6pm, but there will be a need to be flexible to cover other days if needed and the successful candidate may be required to cover the monthly Tuesday 8pm shift if there are staff absences. Candidates are to be aware that if clinic services change to weekends there may be a requirement to cover other late evenings and weekends in the future.

Typical working pattern:

Monday - 8am-4pm (30 mins break) NNUH

Thursday - 8am-3pm (30 mins break) Rouen Road office

Friday - 10am-6pm (30 min break) NNUH
