Job summary

The Medical School at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital organises and facilitates secondary care placements and OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) for over 1000 UEA Medical Students. The team is located in the Bob Champion building in a purpose built area consisting of mock ward areas, simulation rooms and clinical skills lab, There are approximately 25 members of the team including administrators, nurses, technician, pharmacist, consultants and clinical fellows.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting and unique role where you will be an integral part of the team, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the department.

As the successful post holder, you will:

  • provide administrative support for NNUH Clinicians delivering clinical elements of the MB/BS programme
  • oversee the organisation on the Medical Student OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).
  • support the Deputy Operations Manager with the management of both the administrative support team and the logistical operations of the CSRA facilities at NNUH.

The role is within a small close-knit team but also involves liaison with staff from different areas of both the NNUH and UEA.

The role is varied and means that no day is the same and the role involves working with autonomy so you will be able to manage your own workload.

  • To support the Operations Manager/Deputy Operations Manager, Associate Medical Director and Clinical Skills Director in their role in developing and delivering high quality Clinical Skills Training.
  • To advise clinicians, the Universitys academic staff and MB/BS students on

  • Plans, prepares and produces timetables for all medical undergraduate student activities In the Clinical Skills Resource Area whilst at NNUH and ensures best fit to obtain most efficient use of teaching space within CSRA. This is done by consulting with clinicians (NNUH) and academics (UEA), and liaising with the Administrative Team in the MED Teaching Office (UEA) to integrate the CSRA timetable with the UEA teaching timetable and with primary care commitments. Negotiates with clinicians and academic to staff to achieve the best use of the teaching space in Clinical Skills Resource Area when conflicting space requests arise. Negotiates and books additional teaching space at UEA or at NNUH when sessions overflow CSRA.
  • Attends Personal Information Group (NNUH) as a representative of the Clinical Skills Resource Area.
  • Analyses feedback relating to secondary care, and in conjunction with the Deputy Operations Manager, AMD (UG Ed) and Clinical Skills Director, identifies/clarifies problematic issues and generates action plans for their resolution.
