Job summary

The Surgical Division is a busy working environment and you must be able to demonstrate significant experience within an NHS or equivalent organisation. The post will cover 2 main areas; Dermatology/Plastic Surgery.

The role will be a busy/varied one and at times very demanding. To support the Divisional Operational Manager in the operational management of all patient services within the directorate. This involves the delivery of operational performance targets including waiting lists, finance and to continually improve the quality of services to patients by using best practice standards within the availableincome.

Support the Divisional Operational Manager and Senior Nurses with the direct management of all divisional administration and clerical, and nursing staff within the Directorate, and in the management of the Directorate budgets. Contribute to the Divisional and Trust strategy, processes and policies.

Main duties of the job

To support the Divisional Operational Manager and the Service Director in the provision of patient-centred care and a culture of continuous quality improvement.

In partnership with clinical colleagues ensures that activity, cancer, booking/choice, access (including relevant aspects of A&E) and quality targets (covering in-patients, day patients and outpatients) are achieved having regard for Trust policies and procedures, and to develop action plans to manage any variances.

To provide day to day operational management support, enabling safe and efficient patient flow, liaising with all parties, to ensure that the environment is one in which excellence in clinical care can be provided.

To support the Divisional Operational Manager and the Business Development Manager in the preparation of Directorate activity and access plans to deliver national targets (Emergency, 18-weeks & Cancer), and negotiate the financial and capacity resources necessary to deliver these.
