We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to join our highly valued Urology Nurse Practitioner team within the Surgical, Critical and Emergency Care (SCEC) division. Our team values each team member's contribution and endeavours to provide the best care for every patient. Utilising a multi-professional framework and clear pathway for career progression we develop our clinical nursing team to work at an advanced practice level. You will work closely with Consultant Urologists, Middle-Grades Doctor, Junior Doctors and Physician Associates in a supportive an inclusive environment.
The successful candidate will be provided with effective clinical supervision and leadership to develop them into a vital, highly visible and autonomous practitioner.This process will involve undertaking an MSc in Advanced Professional Practice (APP) and becoming an independent non-medical prescriber. This educational pathway will also include moduleswhich encompass the four pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education & research.

Main duties of the job
The Urology Nurse Practitioner will provide information, support, advice and specialist knowledge to patients, their families and carers and act as a resource to the multi-professional team. They are pivotal in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of expert patient care to ensure continuity throughout.
We strive to provide a seamless service upon discharge with appropriate referrals and clear communication via electronic discharge letters. The successful candidate must contribute to the review and development of the urology service, working closely with the health care teams of the in-patient ward, out-patient department and primary care.
Throughout their development the Urology Nurse Practitioner will develop wide and in-depth experience of all aspects of urology, exercising clinical skills relevant to the speciality and leadership where appropriate. They will deliver effective education within their sphere of practice, including the Trust catheterisation clinical skills teaching. They will be asked to monitor and improve standards of care through contribution to clinical audit, assisting with the development of practice through research.
With dedicated training and clinical supervision, they will be encouraged to undertake autonomous nurse-led urology clinics with the support of the wider urology teams.
As this role is vital in delivering a 7-day acute service weekend working will be expected.
