Job summary
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is part Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA). EPA is a network of three Trust Laboratories based at James Paget Hospital in Gorleston, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital Norwich (NNUH) of which the NNUH is the hub laboratory.
The post will be based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The Laboratory provides a wide range of tests for both in-patient and out-patient, all of Norfolk's GP's and other neighbouring Trusts. To aid with our very high workload in the Automated Clinical Biochemistry, the department just recently updated the analysers with Abbott Alinity with 3600 Accelerator 3600 as the track system.
We have exciting opportunities for HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who have experience of working as independent practitioners with skills in Clinical Biochemistry and who are able to perform a range of analyses in Automation and Specimen Reception Services.
We will also welcome applications from graduates who have completed an IBMS accredited biomedical sciences degree and started their registration portfolio (Please refer to attached job descriptions).
The post will be based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and there is an expectation that the post holder will participate in the delivery of a 24/7 laboratory service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will maintain the Laboratory Information Service on a daily basis, allowing the service users access to accurate and updated patient care test results. The state registered Health Care Scientist is required to train and demonstrate methodologies on complex analytical equipment to medical staff, Clinical Scientists, other BMS staff, new entrant staff, students and medical laboratory assistants (MLA).
