The successful candidate will support service provision to a diverse 'front door' footprint including areas such as our Same Day Emergency Care Unit with its focus on admission avoidance - as well as providing urgent respiratory support for patients in the Emergency Department.

The successful candidates will be particularly integral to the ongoing development of a Priority Assessment Unit (PAU), which offers an innovative strategy designed to support the offloading of ambulances, alongside prompt clinical assessment of patients referred to Medicine from the Emergency Department and from GPs. As a team we are committed to providing early Physiotherapy intervention in parallel with the initial medical assessments.

The wider multidisciplinary team value our role in assessing those in the very acute stage of their hospital journey, informing ongoing acute care planning and/or admission avoidance, alongside our therapeutic skills supporting early mobility and function to manage and prevent deconditioning.

Our clinical caseload is hugely varied and embedded in a culture of education, development, and service improvement. Excellent communication skills and a willingness to develop yourself and others around you are essential.

The ethos of 'bringing therapy forwards' and supporting patients with an admission avoidance focus during the acute 24-72hrs of admission will be at the core of your role, promoting early mobilisation and function.
