Main duties of the job
The Assistant Clinical Psychologist will be an integral member of a newly commissioned Diabetes Young Person Pilot Service, which has been funded through NHS England. The pilot team consists of consultants, nurses, dietitians, youth workers, and a young person's co-ordinator. The Clinical Psychologist in the diabetes department will supervise you and co-work with you on some of the initiatives.
The aim of this new role is to work closely with patients with diabetes aged 19-25yrs old to promote greater engagement with their diabetes care, and to promote improved physical and mental wellbeing. The pilot project is collecting data to evidence improvement in engagement, which will be fed back to the national team, and you may contribute to the data collection and analysis. The project (and therefore the role) will run until 31/3/25.
As part of your clinical work there will be opportunities to do both individual work and group work. Some of the contact may involve remote working, due to pressure on clinical space within the Elsie Bertram centre.
We want to become a more diverse and inclusive department, therefore we welcome and actively encourage applications from candidates from a broad range of backgrounds, with different lived and learned experiences.
