Job summary

An opportunity has arisen in the CT Radiology Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) for a Band 3 Radiology Department Assistant. This role will support the CT service primarily.

The Radiology department sits within the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services division and provides diagnostic imaging and therapeutic treatments across a range of specialties across the Trust.

The CT service is a busy but dynamic place to work, serving many specialties within the hospital and within the wider community.

The successful candidate will be flexible and have excellent communication skills, speaking with patients, colleagues and team members, and the wider multi-professional team within the Hospital Trust.

Main duties of the job

This role involves assisting with all aspects of CT Imaging including preparing patients for examinations, helping to position patients for examinations, assisting with interventional procedures including assisting with biopsies and drainages as required and you will be trained to perform cannulation on patients prior to their radiological examination.

The role is patient focused so good communication is essential to assist patients and to demonstrate care and empathy to those who are unwell or distressed, helping them through the Imaging process.

The post holder will contribute to the provision of a high standard of care for patients and carry out some duties unaided, in accordance with Trust/Directorate policy, at the discretion of qualified staff.

This role will be solely based within the CT department at the NNUH to support the CT Radiography team.

Predominantly 12.5 hour shifts which cover the 24-hour period including some night shifts, over seven days of the week, inclusive of Bank Holidays. The usual shift pattern is 3x 12.5 hour shifts per week for full time staff (150 hours over one roster block period). Some night shifts may be required and to cover static night staff.

This is a full-time role. However, part time hours will be considered.
