Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time Specialty Doctor appointment in the Plastic Surgery Department in response to service requirements.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.
We welcome all applications irrespective of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race or religion. Additionally, people with disabilities will be offered an interview providing they meet the minimum criteria for the post. The Trust operates job share and flexible working.
Main duties of the job
The job is designed to support the running of the Plastic Surgery Department at the middle grade medical staff level.
The appointee will be supervised by the Consultant Plastic Surgeons.
The job will entail 8.5 Direct Clinical Care programmed activities and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities
The job diary is only indicative of the average workload expected by the appointee. Final job planning will take into account the needs of the department and the areas of subspecialty interest for the specific applicant. There will also be the need for some built-in flexibility to facilitate utilization of unfilled elective theatre capacity. Commitments and opportunities will cover skin cancer surgery, head and neck surgery, hand surgery, lower limb trauma and breast reconstruction surgery. We ask that the appointee be reasonably flexible in their working pattern to accommodate some variable commitments.
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. This timetable is indicative; the definitive timetable will be agreed by the Trust and the appointee and subject to regular review.
