Fixed term contract/secondment opportunity for 24 months
This role is part of a wider Divisional team for Clinical Support services Research which is an exciting and forward-thinking team at the NNUH.
We currently run over 150 trials on the Clinical Research Network Portfolio, commercial and academic research mainly with our UEA partners.
Within Therapeutic services we have a wealth of AHP's that are enthusiastic to engage in research, we host a number of both National and local schemes such as NIHR Greenshoots, NIHR Associate PI scheme, the NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Pathway with our local hub at the UEA CLACEast, we also offer applications to the NNUH NIHR Research Capability Funding along with an internship schemes with the CRN East of England and JPUH Funded by Norfolk Initiative for Costal & Rural, Health Equalities (NICHE).

Main duties of the job
We are looking for enthusiastic and driven member of staff to support Therapeutic Services Research portfolio, to drive research generated income for Therapeutic Services through the on boarding and development stages of new research programmes, including facilitation with leads within therapies leads leading to final business unit authorisation.
Working alongside Divisional Research Lead, COS, SOM and therapy leads to develop therapeutic services research provision for wider staff professional development.
The post holder will play a key role in the provision for research projects undertaken by the Therapeutic services business unit to develop the research capabilities within the division and wider Trust.

Job responsibilities
- To develop and maintain effective communications and excellent working relations with all directorates, internal and external researchers, external academic research partners and other relevant stakeholders. Preparation of patient pathways for research, communicating to ensure all protocol time points are met for research participants and, recognising onward impact of trial treatments and breach of protocols if delays take place.
- To liaise with therapy leads, Chief of Service (COS) and Service Operational Manager (SOM) to manage capacity and demand for research, offering explanations and ensuring all avenues have been exhausted before declining a research study.
- Regularly undertake clinical audit; undertake formal R&D activity to the standard required of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MRHA).
- Investigate reported Incident via Datix for all research activity, ensuring any breaches of protocol are reported in accordance with the policy of Deviation, violation, breach or serious breach of protocol. Responsible in reporting any necessary Serious Adverse Reactions or Events as per as per regulatory requirements.
- To analyse and interpret a range of complex information to understand the Trusts / Directorates research strategy objectives, financial and clinical performance, to prepare and present options for implementation and improvement.
- Attend Departmental and Divisional research meetings and report to trust research governance with any issues that require raising, improving research within the organisation.
- To assist the COS and SOM in the formulation of therapy research business strategy for the Directorate and to lead in the formulation of the therapy research business plans, ensuring the provision of all researchers, clinicians, and professional staff in developing strategy and service development and improvement.
- To have oversight that all research therapy reporting has taken place in accordance to study time frames, issuing notifications to relevant parties if this is not so, enabling any last minute patient pathway changes that effect treatment.
- To make patient pathway assessment of new research trial requirements, to give therapy related advice on patient pathways and research when required.
- To take all steps to safeguard the welfare of patients with regards to research trial activity. To assess the needs of the patient and plan the delivery of care around these needs, surrounding trial recruitment the issuing of patient information sheets, appropriate consenting procedures are in place as per Good Clinical Practise (GCP) requirement of the MHRA.
- To arrange and negotiate funding for therapies research including: grants, CRN:E, Commercial and sponsor funding for study contracts as revenue for therapies. Reporting to the department the income generation occurring across all Therapeutic Services each financial year.
- Ensure all costs are reviewed and updated annually in line with the start of each new financial year, for the Clinical Research Network (CRN) Portfolio Commercial industry and academic costs.
- Provide line management responsibility for the staff who work in therapy research service and clinical staff with Research element embedded in their roles. Liaise with the clinical lead to feed into these staff appraisals in relation to research activity.
- To coach Therapy Research team staff to fulfil their developmental potential and to encourage a high level of professional knowledge and expertise.
- Take part in the training of clinical staff and students and ensuring their training needs are met in order to enable them to support research operational requirements.
