Job summary

The technical cardiology team for Norfolk and Norwich university hospital are recruiting for a senior cardiac physiologist in echocardiography to join their dedicated team under our new management. You will be based on the main hospital site at Colney Lane, Norwich, whereby be part of a service that offers range of cardiac services including acute cardiology ward, angiography suite, dedicated coronary care unit which is the PPCI centre for Norfolk as well as being the Norfolk Heart Attached centre.

As a senior cardiac physiologist, people are at the heart of what you will do. Our department manages a large non-invasive workload including ambulatory monitoring, pacemaker, and loop recorder follow-up work as well as echocardiography in the form of TTE, TOE, stress echo, and congenital heart disease. You will lead our patient focus service who deliver 18,000 transthoracic echocardiograms annually, stress echo and transoesophageal echo services. We are seeking a colleague, with support from 2 specialist cardiologists and 24 consultants across the service, who can understand the complex nature of the services we provide and how important this is to improving our patients.

Main duties of the job

With our department covering a range of procedures and services as mentioned but working with the wider multidisciplinary team and other hospitals. We require you to provide excellence in your communication and teamwork with a personable, approachable, and respectful manner to both individuals of our wider cardiology team and our patients and visitors.

Our aim is delivering a high-quality service for all patients within your sphere of influence and perform to the level of an independent practitioner within our specialised technical cardiology field. There is the aim for this role to provide clinical and managerial leadership and support all our staff including providing support and guidance to develop our staff. Experience working in a similar role or those working within echocardiography are appreciated as well as those with transferable skills and experience.   • To work without direct supervision in the area of invasive Cardiology.

  • To ensure that patients and, where appropriate their relatives or representatives, have a clear understanding of procedures to be undertaken.
  • To liaise, communicate and maintain professional relationships with patients, relatives, and other staff groups effectively.
  • To maintain expertise in Cardiac Resuscitation procedures in accordance with agreed and established policies.
  • Implement effective assessment and delegation of workload to more junior members of staff.
