Job summary
We are a happy cohesive team of nurses who work in the Rheumatology Day Unit giving Intravenous drugs to patients with autoimmune diseases. This includes a Rheumatology Outpatient Department which we oversee and have a multidisciplinary team of Specialist Nurses and Consultants.
There is also a plan to merge the Aylsham Medical Day Unit with the RDU team as we are on the same floor, so other medical day unit procedures such a blood transfusions and liver biopsies, paracentesis.
Main duties of the job
The role includes the administration of IV drugs, so cannulation skills are essential. We also give cytotoxic drugs and oversee many other specialties for their infusions. This includes Neurology, Gastro, Respiratory and Renal as well as a Rheumatology. Our patients ages range from young to more elderly and as many are not discharge there is the opportunity of getting to know the patients well.
There is weekly education in the department and the opportunity to develop into a specialist role.
We are non- hierarchical, and everyone can be approached.
