Job summary

This a new full time Senior Clinical Fellow post in response to Service need. This post is for a period of 3 months to commence in October 2023 and finish in January 2024 to cover maternity leave.

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would be trained in the full breadth of aortic surgery and gain valuable experience, exposure to and training in the following:-- Open Aortic surgery - at least 1 - 2 open cases per week.- Ruptured AAA - around 30 cases per year.- EVAR - experience in planning cases on a 3D workstation and in the surgical procedure and exposure to Cook, Terumo Aortic, Gore and Medtronic grafts.- FEVAR - experience in planning and implantation of fenestrated grafts. Currently we perform 1-2 procedures a month.- Percutaneous access - our practice is expanding for fully percutaneous access and 24 hour discharge. Training in USS guided puncture and the use of percutaneous closure devices.- TEVAR - we perform between 5-10 cases a year.
