Job summary
We have two very exciting opportunities to join our Band 6 Medical/Surgical in-patient Physiotherapy Rotation. As post holder you will work within teams of Physiotherapists and Assistant staff undertaking a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks to support the delivery of physiotherapy services to our patients. You will support junior staff, students work alongside and delegate to assistant staff and have a significant role in the team-teaching opportunities.
This in-patient post includes rotations within our Neurosciences Centre (Stroke and Neurology); Acute and Older Persons Medicine; Respiratory; Critical Care; Cancer and Palliative Care. You will be supported to pursue your professional interests, assist in the development of your colleagues and help shape services.
You will receive supervision and annual appraisal and take an active role within your own personal development via internal and external training opportunities .
Our Band 6 Senior Physiotherapy rotations are 9 monthly and comprise:
- Neurosciences
- Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care
- Critical Care
- Respiratory Medicine
- Thoracic Surgery
- Vascular Surgery
- Renal and Cardiology
- Acute Admission Unit and Short Stay Older Persons Medicine
- Older Persons Medicine Acute Rehab

Main duties of the job
- To assess, prioritise, treat and manage own caseload of patients within the specific specialities on rotations. To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner. Patient presentation may be complex/highly complex.
- To work closely with the MDTs to ensure high quality patient care and participate on behalf of the Physiotherapy team in daily MDT meetings.
- To train, supervise and monitor other physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistant practitioners, assistants and to performance manage students.
- To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service provided to patients within and out-reaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
