Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital

Chief Physiologist, Rhythm Management

Job summary

We have a really exciting opportunity for a Cardiac Physiologist to join our team.

Our Cardiology services, which are some of the most advanced in the country, cover a range of services including our acute cardiology ward, angiography suite and our coronary care unit which is the PPCI Centre for Norfolk. In addition to this we are the Norfolk Heart Attack Centre.

We are incredibly lucky to have a department with a large non-invasive workload including Ambulatory monitoring, pacemaker and loop recorder follow-up and echocardiography (TTE, TOE, stress echo and congenital heart disease). With new space being created by the £15 million spend on our new IRU unit and a complete refurbishment of the cardiac catheter labs; the department is going from strength to strength.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join us and be an integral part of the CRM team. You should be confident, reliable, forward thinking and willing to work flexibly.

The CRM service is well established; including Brady, ILR, CRTD, ICD, SICD, Micra and CSP implants and follow-ups. This is provided by 7 Cardiologists and 7 Physiologists

We performed over 1000 device implants in the last year, making us one of the biggest implanting centres in the UK. We currently have >4000 devices and ILRs remotely monitored, using 3 of the device manufacturers systems. We also offer outreach follow up clinics to one of our surrounding DGHs.

We have a rapidly increasing EP service in operation, performing a full range of diagnostic EP studies and ablation; including complex EP.

You must have at least three years' experience working as a band 6 in CRM; and either have or be working towards accreditation in Devices and/or Electrophysiology. (BHRS / IBHRE / EHRA)

37.5hrs p/week, but would consider part time hours. Commitment to on-call rota for CRM only - currently 1 in 7 on a rotational basis. There will be a rotational weekend commitment as we are working towards 7 day working.
