Joining the Board of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as our new Non-Executive Director and Chair of Finance, Performance and Investment Committee is a rare and impactful opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a large teaching hospital with over £810m turnover, and a wider health and care system, serving over one million people across Norfolk and the surrounding regions.

Main duties of the job

In joining us at this critical juncture you will have the opportunity to:

Provide Strategic Input: You will work as a full and equal member of the Board, contributing to the development of strategy, helping to set a compelling, sustainable and patient focused future direction for our hospital and the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System we are proudly a part of.

Strengthen Governance: Non-Executive Directors are jointly accountable with Executive Directors for the delivery of the Trusts key objectives, and you will help ensure that we uphold the highest standards of corporate governance and ethical conduct, including through your role as Committee Chair.

As our new Non-Executive Director, we are seeking talented and skilled current or aspirant Non-Executive Directors who can demonstrate:

Relevant Experience at or Close to Board Level: Whether you are currently a NED or keen to take up this role for the first time, you will demonstrate a track record of success in a senior leadership position in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity to our Trust, with relevant skills to Chair the Finance, Performance and Investment Committee.

An Understanding of the Role of a NED: You will appreciate how to operate as a Non-Executive Board Member, able to use analytical thinking, creativity and objectivity to scrutinise performance, hold Executives to account and be a full member of the unitary board.

  • Provide independent judgement on, and help to shape, strategy and vision and ensure the Executive Team develop and implement proposals for the these.
