Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the established East Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (GMSA) as the Consultant Pharmacist in a job-share arrangement.

We are also offering the opportunity for pharmacists who have not yet completed their RPS consultant pharmacist credentialing to apply for the role. In this case you would join the team as Clinical Pharmacy Lead - Genomics (Band 8b) and be supported over a maximum 24 month period to become credentialed before moving up to a Band 8c and being awarded the Consultant Pharmacist title.

We are seeking an exceptional, dynamic pharmacist with a passion for genomics to work with the existing Pharmacy GMSA Leadership and other pharmacy professionals across the Alliance geography as the East GMSA evolves in response to the goals of accelerating genomic medicine in the NHS.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a dynamic link between the emerging clinical practice and service developments for Genomic Medicine by creating new models for delivering patient care, ensuring the best experience and outcomes for patients from their medicines whenever and wherever their care is delivered.
  • To provide strategic advice to the GMS Alliance Chief Pharmacist, GMS Alliance clinical leadership team and the system-wide network for pharmacy.
  • To be sought as an opinion leader regarding pharmaceutical care and policy development in Genomic Medicine and contribute to the national pharmacy genomics collaborative.
  • To work across traditional boundaries (professional and geographical) to embed pharmacogenomics into routine clinical practice and to support pharmacy workforce development.
  • To ensure that assurance and performance reports relating to GMSA funded pharmacy transformation programmes are completed and presented to the GMSA executive board in accordance with required timelines.

This is a job-share post and the successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively with the core leadership team at the GMSA.
