Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Paediatric Neuro-Disability team in a B6 post or B5/6 progressive post. The team treats children from 0-19 years across Norwich and Norfolk, in a variety of outpatient and community settings including MDT clinics, mainstream and special schools. The job holder will be supported by very experienced senior clinicians for supervision and teaching. Days and hours to be discussed at interview but there is a requirement to offer some after school appointments.

This post will suit individuals who have an interest and experience working with children and young people with long term neuro-disability.

Continuous Professional Development is actively supported through an established appraisal system, in-service training and post graduate library facilities.

Main duties of the job

As post holder your duties will include:

  • To be able to assess and identify common neuro-disability conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and Developmental Delay.
  • To manage a caseload of mainstream and special school children with long term conditions and to be actively involved in the orthotics provision, postural and tone management of these children.
  • To be involved in the delivery of hydrotherapy, neuro outpatient review clinics, and developmental follow-up clinics. To attend and participate in MDT clinics including Cerebral Palsy MDT clinic, Orthotics clinic
  • To be involved in the supervision and training of band 5 physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistant practitioners, assistants and students.

  • To recognise, using clinical judgement, when physiotherapy is not indicated and refer to other healthcare professionals as required.
