Job summary

Norwich and Norfolk University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Deputy Director of Transformation to join the recently established Transformation team.

The Transformation directorate has a vital role in the delivery of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust transformation and improvement programme outlined in its overarching Caring with Pride strategy. The Transformation team is split into two functions: the Programme Management Office (responsible for ensuring appropriate programme governance oversight and assurance) and the Transformation team responsible for project delivery of complex change programmes (as set out in the transformation programme) working alongside the SROs.

The Deputy Director of Transformation is a new role with the primary objective of supporting large scale complex transformation programmes across the Trust. Working closely with the divisional leadership teams, corporate services, and the executive team they will play a crucial role in developing the maturing and visibility of the progress of programmes. This includes designing and delivering programmes in accordance with the Trust's corporate, financial, and associated strategies.

Main duties of the job

As the post holder, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Trust's strategic improvement initiatives outlined in the transformation programme. The post holder will work cross functionally with subject matter experts and leadership to optimise operational processes and deliver and embed the required changes. They will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that transformation programmes (agreed by the Trust Board and its sub committees) achieve their objectives on time and delivers the changes and benefits articulated working with the SROs.
  • Supporting the Director of Transformation, working with the SROs, programme Boards, clinicians, patients and public in setting, maintaining, and delivering the Transformation programmes.
  • Leading initiatives, programmes and projects that improve performance, productivity, patient, and staff experiences aligned to the Trust's transformation programme
  • Ensuring there a clear benefits profile for each programme (which ties back to the trust's financial and corporate strategy) and that the benefits derived from programmes are tracked, counted, and reported in a timely manner.
  • Proactively mitigate risk across the transformation programmes activity and assure the Transformation Steering group and relevant committees of effective risk management plans

  • Educated to masters or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Formal qualification in six sigma, or other project management methodology

Desirable

  • A financial qualification (preferably chartered accountant eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

  • Comprehensive transformation programme management experience in large complex organisations which preferably should be in health care of health service environment.
  • Strong track record of successfully delivering large scale improvement (using continuous improvement, agile, organisational development, strategy development and transformation methodologies where appropriate)
