Fixed term contract/secondment opportunity for 12 months
We are pleased to offer an exciting post leading the inpatient / head & neck oncology dietetic team based at the NNUH.
The role will offer the candidates the opportunity to develop their clinical leadership roles whilst working in a dedicated oncology team which is well supported by the MDT. The inpatient elements are shared with another lead working collaboratively to support the team. You will have opportunity to work autonomously to achieve the team outcomes
The successful candidate will join our department of 50 dietitians & assistants within a large teaching hospital. We have 3 main teams including paediatrics, chronic conditions & the inpatient & oncology team.

Main duties of the job
When you first arrive with us you will have a 4 week induction period where you will get to know your team, understand the clinical needs of the hospital. Whether you are an existing or new leader of services we will support your development into a high functioning leader of Dietetic practice who can pragmatically solve clinical and operational issues as they arise. You will receive support and guidance as required to strategically meet the nutritional goals of the organisation and clinically develop your team into autonomous practitioners.
On an ongoing basis your responsibilities will include:
- Highly specialist caseload (the specialties we cover at the hospital include gastro, CCC, NST & neuro along with several medical and surgical wards)
- Clinical and operational oversight of the team with clear objectives and targets
- Reviewing and leading improvements within the team, learning from incidents and complaints
- Ensuring equitable access to CPD and supervision
- Mentoring & supervising the team to ensure continuous improvement and professional development
- leading projects to support departmental improvement
- Departmental decision making at Nutrition & Dietetic governance meetings
- Representation at the trusts nutrition steering group

- To be responsible for providing training and education in the area of clinical speciality to other dietitians and healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- To provide advanced nutritional and dietetic advice in specialist area to medical, health care professionals and other agencies.
- To assess plan and implement complex treatment programmes and monitor patients in a variety of settings, offering therapeutic dietary advice and education, to address patients complex and changing needs.

- To provide day to day leadership and management of the dietitians, dietetic assistant practitioners and dietetic assistants within the specialist clinical team.
