Job summary

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is a leading provider of mental health and specialist services across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate and evidence-based care. Within our NHS Talking Therapies service, we work collaboratively across integrated pathways to support individuals with anxiety, depression and co-morbid long-term conditions (LTCs)/medically unexplained symptoms (MUS).

We are seeking an experienced CBT clinician to provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based CBT interventions for this client group. The post holder will also offer expert clinical supervision to High and Low Intensity practitioners, provide consultation and training to multidisciplinary colleagues including community physical health teams, and contribute to service development, audit, research and clinical governance.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening integrated care pathways and shaping high-quality psychological provision across North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide and develop CBT interventions within Talking Therapies, Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent, for patients with co-morbid LTCs/MUS, in consultation with service leads. In the context of the service, the post holder will:

Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based CBT and CB interventions to clients with a range of anxiety disorders, depression and co-morbid LTCs/MUS involving the clients family/informal carers as required

Hold substantial responsibility for the provision of expert clinical supervision to High Intensity CBT therapists and Low Intensity workers within the TT service.

Provide expert advice and consultation on psychological issues to colleagues within the TT service and to other professionals in specialist physical health teams, including teaching and training, and collaborative clinical work.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with multi-agency colleagues working with the client group, particularly those in community physical health teams, and take a key role in ensuring that clients are appropriately referred and sign-posted to other services as their needs require.

Utilise research skills for the ongoing audit of the service, in particular regular outcome measures and for research, policy and service development for the Integrated pathways within the TT service.
