Job summary

Maintenance Craftsperson full time 37.5 hours per week

Band 4, £27,485 - £30,162 per annum plus additional on-call payments

The Maintenance Craftsperson carries out the maintenance, repair and installation of Trust buildings and equipment. The duties and responsibilities of the role will be selected from the list below, depending on craft certification and skills.1.Use multi trade skills to repair designated buildings and equipment within limit of craft qualifications and skills, including general maintenance, joinery and building fabric repairs.2.Undertake craft duties and associated works, including all aspects of repair maintenance and new works across the estate, including planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, minor new works and minor decoration works.3.Assess job requirements including taking dimensions, organising materials, plant, tools and equipment and carry out testing procedures as required.4.Carry out correct responsive repair diagnosis and carry out work to achieve a first-time fix, to avoid duplication and follow on work for other maintenance team members.5.Work in accordance with the requirements of HTM's; health and safety regulations, policies and procedures; building regulations etc.6. Ensure safe working practices are implemented at all times, including correct use of PPE and adherence to health and safety and infection control procedures. Make the Estates Manager aware of any health and safety concerns within the team.

Main duties of the job

7. Assist in planned preventative maintenance of (including but not limited to) fire alarms, emergency lighting, water flushing, safe water temperatures, undertake routine water sampling, PAT testing, medical furniture and beds.

8. Assist other trades in carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation work.9. Respond in a safe manner to the effects of catastrophic failure and assist as necessary.

10. Understand the interrelationships between the various maintenance crafts. Take responsibility and be able to take action using own initiative, having the freedom to initiate action in accordance with health and safety and other working procedures.

11. Provide support and guidance for Maintenance Assistants to develop their skills and knowledge.12.Ensure that there is minimum disruption to wards, departments and patients while carrying out work.13.Contribute positively to EMT team meetings and toolbox talks.14.Liaise with Estates Manager (EMT) regarding plant, equipment and the supply of goods and or /services as necessary.15.Complete repair records in accordance with agreed procedures.16.Safely use a range of hand and power tools along with test equipment.17.Interpret and work from drawings.18. Liaise with contractors and other Estates staff concerning repairs and follow up on work that is not completed on time or to the required standard.
