Senior Occupational Therapist

Job summary

The Newcastle Adult CMHT Team are looking to recruit a full-time Band 6 Occupational Therapist.

As an OT you will provide assessment and interventions to identify and address occupational performance needs in self-care, productivity and leisure to support the safe and effective assessment of those using the services.

The OT has a lead role in promoting, enhancing and maintaining the health and wellbeing of service users with a mix of complex health needs. The successful postholder will also offer specialist support, consultation and training to staff within the service and other agencies where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Complete evidence based functional assessments of a person's behaviour/performance in partnership with the service user and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Following appropriate assessment, develop person centred care plans to enable the proactive management of presenting behaviour/need.

Communicate complicated or highly sensitive information such as diagnosis and care plans to service users and families in a way that allows them to fully understand what is required.

To take an active lead in working closely with partnership agencies to promote wellness and recovery focused interventions and discharge planning
