If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Mental Health Nurse to join theStaffordshire and Stoke on Trent NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression,to provide psychological assessment and treatment for clients with a wide range of mental health problems that are suitable for treatment within primary care.
Band 6, £35,392 - £42,618 per annum.
Maternity Cover Part Time - 27.5 hours per week.
We are a friendly and welcoming NHS service in North Staffordshire and we offer assessment and treatment for the population of Newcastle under Lyme and the North Staffordshire Moorlands locality.

You will receive specialist in-house clinical skills training to provide structured, problem-focused assessments, and to explain evidence-based models of psychological therapies for all specific anxiety disorders and depression in adherence with NICE guidelines.
Main duties of the job
As a Community Mental Health Nurse, you will provide a central role in supporting the service by screening new referrals via our self-referral telephone helpline / web referral facility, delivering 1-2 assessments per month, making decisions on suitability/allocation, providing psycho-education and signposting/referring clients to partner services as appropriate.
You will work alongside NHS psychological therapists, and aside from delivering assessments and screening new referrals, will independently carry a caseload of clients for treatment/support who do not meet the criteria for NHS Talking Therapies structured psychological treatment, but whose needs can be managed in primary care.
There is a comprehensive care pathway within the service for these clients that has a focus upon Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills. The Community Mental Health Nurses are able to offer this type of intervention both on a 1:1 basis with clients, and also within a group workshop setting that has recently been developed within the service.

We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of CBT Therapists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Interpersonal Therapists, Counsellors and Community Mental Health Nurses. We are committed to staff development, and these posts offer great opportunity for ambitious individuals looking to further their careers within an excellent Talking Therapies service, covering some of the most beautiful countryside of the Peak District National Park.
Applicants will need to have a core RMN professional qualification, and post-qualification experience, preferably in both inpatient and community settings, but this is not essential.
The post-holder will offer 1:1 treatment intervention to clients who struggle with a range of different symptoms and difficulties, including but not limited too; Eating Disorders, Low Self-Esteem, Emotional Dysregulation, Depression, and Anxiety.
The post-holder will work with clients who may present with increased risk, to ensure that their safety is maintained and to support clients to develop and follow robust Safety Plans, referring on to appropriate Crisis Services where necessary.
The post-holder will manage this caseload of clients, providing weekly treatment appointments on a 1:1 basis to work on clients identified needs and issues, providing evidenced based therapeutic interventions and supporting the client to develop appropriate skills to manage and improve their wellbeing.
Alongside 1:1 sessions, the post-holder will also work closely with CPN colleagues in delivering online group workshops to clients that focus on developing Emotional Regulation skills.
Knowledge of CBT principles in treating anxiety disorders and depression would be an advantage.
There are other training opportunities available for team members who have an interest in developing other evidence based therapeutic interventions in primary care mental health.
As the service is based in Newcastle Under Lyme, Stoke on Trent and the wider geographical area of North Staffordshire and the Leek Moorlands some travel between sites and bases is required, therefore a driving license is advantageous.
We are able to offer flexible remote working at times, however do require candidates to be able to offer face to face appointments for clients at our current bases within North Staffordshire and the Moorlands.
