We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in our CAMHS and ASD Teams.
This post is based in Stoke on Trent/North Staffordshire and comprises of multi disciplinary teams, including Consultant colleagues and trainee doctors.
The Community Directorate includes specialist services for Personality Disorders, Early Intervention in Psychosis, Adult ADHD and ASD, Eating Disorders and Perinatal Mental Health.
The Trusts Inpatient services are covered by dedicated Consultants and there is a separate Rehabilitation Service.
The Trust has well established Neuropsychiatry, Liaison Psychiatry and Inpatient Addictions Services in addition to Older Adults, CAMHS and Learning Disability teams.
Duties of the job will include providing clinical care and leadership for community services.
The successful candidates will assist with triage of new referrals, initial assessments and follow up appointments, focussing on complex cases and those service users involved with the Mental Health Act (this generally being limited to Community Treatment Orders).
Main duties of the job
The Trust is seeking a consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join its community CAMHS services and CAMHS ASD service. This is a new post. Community CAMHS in North Staffordshire is spread over 3 bases, Tunstall, Blurton and North Staffs. The post holder would be based at North Staffs CAMHS team at Dragon square. There is also a Tier 4 service Darwin Centre and an Intensive Support team who support young people in their homes when needed.
The CAMHS CMHT post comprises working alongside the existing full time consultant and taking on a proportionate component catchment area which includes the market towns of Newcastle under Lyme and Leek and surrounding area, the total population being around 200,000.
The post is based at Dragon Square, Chesterton. The CAMHS ASD team is also based at Dragon square. The Consultant will provide clinical leadership and supervision / consultation to members of the multi-disciplinary team and educational supervision to the junior doctors as well as direct clinical care of patients. There would be opportunities to get involved with teaching and research in this role.
