Job summary
We are delighted to be advertising this new opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic person with lived experience of perinatal mental health to join our team within the Parent and Baby day unit working as part of the maternal mental health Lotus pathway.
The role will involve supporting service users through their journey of recovery and or loss. We believe peer support workers are experts by experience and play a valuable role in supporting families with their recovery.
The appointed individual will need to be innovative, compassionate and motivated.
Main duties of the job
The role will include supporting service users at times accessing midwifery, maternity and or neonatal care. You will work alongside the team supporting the journey to recovery and playing an active part in the multi disciplinary team .
About us
The Lotus pathway supports women and birth people who have experienced previous loss or trauma. The team is supported by psychology, midwife, clinical lead and admin support. The lotus pathway is part of the bigger perinatal team who offer support at the Parent and Baby unit.

Qualifications
Essential
- English language literacy and numeracy skills to the standard necessary to provide clear understandable records on computer systems.
- Willingness to develop self through engaging in educational/ apprenticeship and/or specialist training.
- Completion of own Health and Wellbeing/ Wellness Recovery action plan (WRAP) and/ or Advanced statement.
Desirable
- Skills or abilities which would contribute to the skill mix of the specialist community perinatal mental health team (e.g.: arts, crafts, sports, hobby skills)

- Personal lived experience of perinatal/ maternal mental health problems
- Experience of recovering a meaningful life
- Experience of being in a supportive and enabling role
Desirable
- Experience of using range of self-management approaches
- Psychiatric hospital admission or involvement in perinatal/ maternal mental health services
