Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work in an interesting and varied post within the Broadfield Unit (BU) at the Haywood Hospital, supported by the Neuropsychology Department from North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust. BU is a Level 2a specialized rehabilitation unit and provides services for people with complex disabilities of neurological and musculoskeletal origin and aims to reduce the impact of disabling conditions. A co-ordinated rehabilitation team provides input from a wide range of disciplines to address a variety of issues, including medical, physical, sensory, cognitive, communicative, psychological, social and environmental. The post is a highly valued component of the service and the post holder would be expected to be proactive in providing leadership around psychological issues within the team. There are excellent opportunities for continuing professional development, research and teaching. The role comes with clinical supervision from the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist as well as many opportunities to participate in continuing professional development and peer supervision.

Main duties of the job
This post offers a varied opportunity to develop skills in specialist neuropsychological assessment and neuro rehabilitation. Clinical input will include working directly with patients and their families, as well as consultation work with MDT colleagues. The applicant should be an experienced Clinical Psychologist with experience of working with people with acquired brain injury or other neurological conditions. The successful post holder will be based within an inpatient specialised rehabilitation unit, providing neuropsychological assessment and evidence-based interventions as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team. Applicants should have the ability to work closely with medical colleagues and members of various other disciplines, and have experience of multi-disciplinary team work. Competency in supervision is required, as the post-holder will supervise an Assistant Psychologist and other qualified staff. As a senior member of the rehabilitation team you will be essential in shaping the service and ensuring excellent and compassionate care to patients.

The post holder will benefit from a supportive team of colleagues, including Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologists, as well as clinical psychologists, and assistant psychologists. There is a wider network of colleagues within the North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, as well as a supportive MDT within BU.
This post offers great CPD and training opportunities, with excellent links with the University of Staffordshire Clinical Psychology training course. Supervision will be provided by the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist working in the sister specialised rehabilitation unit based at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Stoke-on-Trent has excellent transport links and is easy to commute to from many areas, with free parking available on the hospital site. This is supported by a flexible working policy and the ability to work from home at times agreed with the service.
