We are seeking a motivated Band 6 Colorectal Nurse Specialist to join our colorectal service at George Eliot Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and supportive team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within a growing specialist service.
Main duties of the job
- Work within the Colorectal Surgical Team and collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure best practice and optimal outcomes for patients, under the direction of the Lead Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Provide clinical expertise and education in regards Colorectal Surgery and nursing care to ensure evidence -based practice.
- Support the development of the colorectal service and assist with the formation of guidelines and policies that will contribute to the strategic direction of the service.

- Deliver and promote high quality, evidence based practice for colorectal patients.
- Work with the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate care and support to provide a seamless service and refer to other nursing services.
- Act as role model, clinical expert and advocate for service users within the Trust and externally.
- Ensure that the collation of data reflects the level of service activity and patient.
- Participate in the development of guidelines/ protocols for the colo-rectal team and Trust.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of the enhanced recovery programmes.
- Provide education to other nursing staff and MDT members and other health professionals in formal and informal settings so they can be informed about the needs and management of the client group.
