Job responsibilities

• The post will provide support to the breast, gynaecology, and lung oncology services through the delivery of outpatient clinics. In addition, the role will play a key part in supporting the acute oncology service, ensuring the timely assessment and review of patients presenting with symptoms related to their oncology treatment.
• They have the responsibility for leading the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Work autonomously an advanced practitioner within the speciality, managing a caseload of patients delivering individualised direct patient care.
• Direct responsibility for assessment, examination, investigation and diagnosis of patientswithin the area of work.
• Appropriately treat patients, resulting in the safe management and appropriate referral ordischarge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations.
• Receive referrals from a variety of sources (including direct patient referral). Manage owncaseload and clinical priorities according to agree protocols and working practices.
• Participate in Multidisciplinary (MDT) clinics; participate in ward rounds, patient reviews andMDT meetings.
• Undertake a variety a clinical skills and provide treatment/advice as per specialty and scopeof practice. Using agreed protocols of clinical practice and professional guidelines.
• Within scope of practice and clinical competence request and/or undertake diagnostic andclinical investigations related to the plans of care.
• Utilise the scope of practice to undertake Non-Medical Prescribing role and advise onmedicine management issues associated with the patient speciality group. Work within Trustpolicy for Medicines Management and oral SACT guidelines.Utilise advanced knowledge and skills relating to the speciality to provide specialist advice toother members of the MDT on the basis of patient assessment.
• Provide a seamless, high quality service from referral through to assessment, diagnosis, treatment and review, referring to other specialists as required. Provide guidance to staff, patients and their families and carers on pathway navigation.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

• Experience of working autonomously within ward/area/specialty of the specific role
• Able to work with a diverse range of internal/external stakeholders
• Evidence of on-going CPD
• Evidence of research and audit
• Ability to clinically lead and influence other

Qualification(s) and Professional Training

Essential

• Post graduate qualification in a specific speciality or equivalent experience
• Masters Level (MSc) degree in Advance Clinical Practice
• Recognised Advanced Health Assessment qualification (Minimum Masters level course)
• Professional Registration. NMC or HPCP registered
