The post holder will be practicing autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner within the Oncology service to provide patient-centred clinical care specifically supporting the Gynaecology, Lung & breast oncology services. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the directorate. They will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers.
Main duties of the job
- Work autonomously an advanced practitioner within the speciality, managing a caseload of patient's delivering individualised direct patient care.
- Direct responsibility for assessment, examination, investigation and diagnosis of patientswithin the area of work.
- Appropriately treat patients, resulting in the safe management and appropriate referral ordischarge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations.
- Receive referrals from a variety of sources (including direct patient referral). Manage owncaseload and clinical priorities according to agree protocols and working practices.
- Participate in Multidisciplinary (MDT) clinics; participate in ward rounds, patient reviews andMDT meetings.
- Undertake a variety clinical skills and provide treatment/advice as per specialty and scopeof practice. Using agreed protocols of clinical practice and professional guidelines.
- Within scope of practice and clinical competence request and/or undertake diagnostic andclinical investigations related to the plans of care.
- Utilise the scope of practice to undertake Non-Medical Prescribing role and advise onmedicine management issues associated with the patient speciality group. Work within Trustpolicy for Medicines Management and oral SACT guidelines.
- Utilise advanced knowledge and skills relating to the speciality to provide specialist advice to other members of the MDT on the basis of patient assessment.
