We have an exciting opportunity for support workers to join the Gynaecology and Early pregnancy team. This will entail supporting consultants and nurses during Gynaecology Procedures and working within the Early pregnancy unit. You will be expected to support both units within the Women and Children's directive.

Main duties of the job

The Job includes supporting the doctors, nurses and patients when they have pregnancy complications or Gynaecology conditions. You will be expected to completed the healthcare certificate, chaperoning, observations, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, weight and height. You will be required to assist and prep for Gynaecology procedures. You may be trained if required on Observations, urinalysis venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring and ECG.

Job responsibilities

The Job includes supporting the doctors, nurses and patients when they have pregnancy complications or Gynaecology conditions.

You will be expected to completed the healthcare certificate, chaperoning, observations, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, weight and height.

You will be required to assist and prep for Gynaecology procedures. You may be trained if required on observations, Venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring, ECG and ordering stock required for the unit.

  • Anticipate the needs of the patient to ensure comfort, safety, and dignity always.
  • Assist patients in preparation for and whilst undergoing routine and specialised gynaecological procedures and examinations, always attending to the patients welfare.
  • To check patient identification and documentation in accordance with departmental protocols and clinical requests. Ensure that patient demographics are accurate.
  • Establish and maintain a good communication channel to support patient confidence.
  • Demonstrate respect, courtesy, and diplomacy in dealing with professional colleagues and members of the public. Adopting a friendly and helpful approach towards staff, patients, their relatives and friends in all clinical areas and on the telephone.
  • Receive patients, relatives, and colleagues into the department and direct to the appropriate area and ensure that they have been informed of waiting times.
  • Ensure patients property is kept in line with Trust Policy Preparing for clinics.
  • Management of patient information to ensure compliance with information governance.
  • Ensuring patients data is effectively inputted on to the computer system.Apply infection prevention and control guidance/ policy within the unit.
  • Assist patients to be comfortable, adequately dressed and maintain their personal hygiene.
  • To record, document and report patient observations such as blood pressure, oxygen saturations as appropriate informing nurse specialist of any concerns regarding the patients condition.
  • To complete patient documentation as delegated.
  • Escort patients to other departments as a companion where appropriate.
  • Liaise with medical secretaries and other departments to ensure that all documentation required for the department is available.
