We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Theatre Practitioner, experienced within the field of Obstetric Scrub and Recovery .
You should be a dynamic, innovative and driven registered practitioner (NMC or HCPC) with excellent clinical knowledge and skills to join a dedicated team.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering effective, high quality perioperative care for the surgical patient, following a patient-centred model of practice.
Main duties of the job
- Maintaining a safe and clean environment within the clinical area in accordance with the Trusts policies and guidelines.
- Deliver a high standard of perioperative care based upon a sound evidence base.
- Provide skilled clinical assistance to the surgical, anaesthetic and recovery teams.
- Maintaining timely and accurate patient care documentation, ensuring that confidentiality is respected.
- Creates and utilises opportunities to promote health and wellbeing of patients in our care.
- Communicating with and assisting the multidisciplinary team to always promote excellence in the delivery of patient care.
- Leads a perioperative team to manage a group of patients throughout a shift.
- Working within the NMC/HCPC Guidelines and Trust Policies recognising one's own abilities and limitations.
- To ensure 24-hour cover, working rotational shifts to include earlies, lates, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays.

Clinical
1.1 Maintaining a safe and clean environment within the clinical area in accordance with the Trusts.

2.1 Ensure that adequate resources are available to meet the needs of the patients and contribute to cost improvement programmes.
2.2 Contribute to the maintenance of appropriate stock levels and have an awareness of materials management.
2.3 Ensure that all equipment for patient use is kept in good working order in line with current Regulations.
2.4 Ensure that adequate skill mix is available to meet the needs of the patients. If deficits are unavoidable, contact the appropriate Senior Staff for support.
2.5 Ensure that concerns and complaints from patients, visitors or colleagues are resolved, where possible and reported to the Team Leader / Senior Team Leader
2.6 Deputise for the Team Leader as and when necessary.
Educational and Training
3.1 Have a positive attitude to continuing professional development to enhance knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for safe and effective perioperative practice.
3.2 Participate in Trust Appraisal System
3.3 Possess a clear understanding of Clinical Governance in relation to standards of care, support of colleagues and audit of given care.
3.4 Participate in the utilisation, evaluation and conduct of audit and research.
3.5 Contribute to and evaluate the implantation of new ideas and innovations within the Theatre areas.
3.6 Promote a professional image by acting as a role model to others, provide and participate in
clinical supervision. Act as a source of advice and support for other colleagues.
3.7 Contribute to preceptoring, mentoring and assessing of colleagues and students in placement.

4.1Ensures that the Team Leader/Senior Team Leader is informed of any Professional concerns at the earliest opportunity.
4.2 Ensure that Revalidation requirements for NMC/HCPC Registration are adhered.
