Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone with experience within Medical and MAPs education who is ready for the next step on their leadership journey. The Medical and MAPs Education Lead is responsible for the operational management and leadership of the Medical and MAPs Education administration departments and the education they deliver across the Trust for Medical and MAPs Education staff and learners.

  • Providing professional advice and consultancy to the Trust, HEIs, NHSE, regional, and national stakeholder groups, on all aspects of Medical and MAPs Education including the administration and education services that the departments deliver for Medical and MAPs Education staff and leaners including policy, pedagogy, delivery and placement models, feedback, and quality
  • Leading research and audit projects in collaboration with Trust education colleagues, NHSE and HEIs, to ensure an evidence based innovative approach is delivered, and translating this into policy, guidance, and education delivery
  • Leading service delivery in relation to NHSE learner education contracts and Trust Medical and MAPs Education staff and learner education requirements in relation to professional and Trust standards
  • Leading service delivery and evaluation in relation to education programmes for all Medical and MAPs Education learners and staff
  • Ensuring NHSE and education contract quality indicators and KPIs are achieved for all education contract related activity
  • Working in collaboration with the Director of Medical Education, Head of Medical Education, Associate Clinical Director for Undergraduate Medical Education, Clinical Tutor, and Foundation Programme Director to ensure high quality delivery of all workstreams
  • Line managing the Medical and MAPS Education administration managers to ensure collaborative and innovative delivery of Medical and MAPS Education programmes at a high standard
  • Utilising inclusive leadership skills to develop direct reports to ensure they can lead, manage, and coach their teams effectively and to robustly succession plan
  • Producing annual Board reports including national survey responses, demonstrating achievements, activity, collaboration, responses to feedback, and innovation, in addition to providing evidence for quality assurance visits from NHSE and HEIs
  • Managing the budgets for Postgraduate NHSE, Postgraduate Trust, and Undergraduate Medical Education on behalf of the Head of Medical Education to ensure transparent accountability and best use to meet educational and contract requirements
  • Work in partnership with administration, education and clinical leads and their teams within education and clinical practice to develop new initiatives, generate tariff income, and seek new opportunities
