Dental Therapist

Fixed Term Maternity cover for 12 months

Hours - 30 per week

Bases Hereford 3 days, Leominster 1 day

The Dental Access Centre is a commissioned Community Dental Service which delivers comprehensive routine and urgent oral health care to a wide range of patient groups including children and adults with special education needs and disabilities.

We are looking for an experienced Dental Therapist to support the dental team in the provision of dental care.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality, oral healthcare for children and adults within the CDS. This will include children and adults who are anxious, have challenging behaviour management, have complex medical conditions, social concerns and/ or learning/physical disabilities, mental health conditions, medically compromised, severe anxiety and phobias.

Provide oral health education and promotion, with a focus on prevention, underpinned by a holistic approach to oral and general health care

Diagnosing and care planning within scope and competence and referring patients to other healthcare professionals if necessary.

To carry out all forms of periodontal and restorative treatments covered by the GDC Scope of Practice for Dental Therapists.

Appropriately prescribe, take and interpret radiographs within scope and competence.

Supply and administer specific medicines directly to patients on completion of appropriate training.

Visits to the Community Dental Service prior to interview are welcomed and the Clinical Lead would be pleased to meet prospective candidates to discuss the post further.
