Wye Valley NHS Trust, is offering eligible staff the opportunity, to apply for the 4-year Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship with the University of Worcester, to commence September 2026.
The Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship education program, enables staff to work towards becoming a Registered Nurse with a BSc Honours degree. The course combines work-based and academic learning between WVT and the University of Worcester.
This opportunity is suitable for Internal Wye Valley NHS staff who meet the following requirements:
- Have English and Maths GCSE C/4 or above, or English and Maths Level 2 Functional Skills, and can provide evidence in the form of a certificate- to be submitted by Sunday 5th April.
- Have a Level 3 qualification, 112 UCAS points from 3 A Levels or equivalent and can provide evidence in the form of a certificate to be submitted by Sunday 5th April.
- Hold the values and behaviours required for the Registered Nurse
- Must be contracted for a minimum of 30 hours per week
- Have lived in England for the last 3 years as a minimum.
- Have written support from your current line manager-the confirmation form will be sent out to the applicant upon receipt of application. The applicant will need to request support from their manager who will need to sign the form. The applicant will then return the form to recruitment by Sunday 5th April.
Main duties of the job
The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Registered Nurse within the service and through completion of the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship which includes working in care settings and delivery of person-centred care in accordance with the NMC Standards of proficiency 2018.
The Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice will be based, as a paid employee, within Wye Valley NHS Trust. Within their contracted hours they will work 28/29 within their RNDA role and the remaining hours in their HCSW role in their allocated home base. Practice placements, undertaken as part of the course will be external to their home base. During practice placements they will experience working across both internal and potentially external placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of local healthcare service and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements, which also includes working flexibly during practice placements to provide 24-hour care.
The Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice will be required to achieve the practical and academic standards as set out by the NMC, The University of Worcester, and the Institute of Apprenticeships. On successful completion of the apprenticeship they will be able to join the NMC Register as a Registered Nurse.
As an apprentice they will remain an employee of the Trust. Therefore, they are expected to work within and adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.
