The Theatre Logistics Team Administrator and Instrument Lead will support the Logistics Team Leader in managing procurement, supply, storage, and coordination of medical supplies, surgical instruments, and sterile consumables to ensure safe and effective patient care. The post holder will assist in supervising the Theatre Logistics Team (TLT), maintaining smooth daily operations, resolving supply chain issues promptly, and optimizing stock management. Acting as the department's procurement and logistics expert, they will collaborate with the Logistics Team Leader and Operating Department Manager to ensure service continuity and deliver cost efficiencies.
Main duties of the job
This role ensures the operating department has the necessary equipment, instruments, and consumables to support uninterrupted surgical services. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Logistics Team Leader in managing and developing the Theatre Logistics Team, including appraisals, training, and performance management.
- Coordinating procurement activities such as sourcing quotations, placing orders, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and value for money.
- Overseeing stock systems (including Omnicell), ensuring accurate inventory records and effective stock rotation.
- Acting as a primary liaison for suppliers, external CSSD providers, and internal stakeholders to resolve supply and equipment issues promptly.
- Assisting with departmental projects, audits, and initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain compliance with policies.
- Ensuring consistent availability of surgical instruments and consumables for both planned and emergency procedures.
