The purpose of this job is to provide support to the Medical Secretary, Consultants and respiratory physiologists in the physiology department.
The role involves supporting the team and typing clinical correspondence to adhere to standard turnaround times, maintaining a high standard of clerical duties and overseeing all aspects of the preparation and delivery of the clinic ensuring that departmental deadlines and RTT targets are achieved.
Main duties of the job
To have full responsibility for clinics and oversee all aspects of the preparation and delivery of the clinic.To liaise with Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Medical Secretaries to ensure full utilisation of allocated clinic rooms, clinic appointment slots and ensuring all parties are aware of cancellations due to annual/study leaveTo be a proficient user of the required electronic systems for correspondence, recording, retrieval and maintenance of informationLiaise with other hospitals when patients are referred for investigation or treatment ensuring all relevant documentation is sent/received, and that patients are added to the waiting list for treatment as appropriate. Liaise with RMC (referral management centre) regarding the booking of follow-ups if appropriate.To action weekly and monthly validation reports including PTLs, 18 week lists, missing outcomes, data quality and waiting lists ensuring there are no breaches.Monitor 8 week and under appointment requests to ensure they are booked appropriately.Ensure all patients' medical records reports are complete including correspondence, follow-up action taken, and results of investigations are available including printing off radiology, histology and other diagnostic reports from APEX and PACS/RIS and maintain an up to date knowledge of such systems and chasing up outstanding results.Maintain good working relationships with all areas in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service to patients.
