Job summary

The Children's Hearing Centre have a great opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic and well motivated Senior Paediatric Audiologist / Clinical Scientist (Audiology) to join their friendly, dedicated team.

The post holder will be based at the Children's Hearing Centre in Hereford however there may be opportunities to support the Adult Audiology Service based at Hereford County Hospital. The post is for a full time position however part time or compressed hours will be considered. We are happy to consider candidates for a developmental Band 6-7 role and will provide further M-level training in newborn ABR testing, with progression up to Band 7 upon successful completion of additional training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced, qualified Paediatric Audiologist who will provide a comprehensive paediatric diagnostic and habilitation service, performing a full range of diagnostic procedures including procedures that are highly specialised, complex and non-routine. The work will involve a significant degree of responsibility, and the post holder will take an active role in quality assurance and service development. The post holder will assist with the day-to-day running of the Paediatric Audiology Service and will be accountable to the Head of Paediatric Audiology, ensuring that professional standards are maintained at all times.

The ideal candidate will have significant NHS experience in Paediatric Audiology, be friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude to service development. They will actively participate in departmental CPD sessions and mentoring junior members of staff. They will have an excellent rapport with patients and their families, clearly explaining complex test results while maintaining empathy and developing individual management plans involving the patient's carers and family as appropriate. They will strive to continue providing a high quality family-friendly service that meets the needs of the local population.
