Job summary
The primary role for the successful candidate will be to join the Anaesthetic Team covering elective theatres, Obstetric anaesthetics, Critical Care, with on-call commitments. The post holder will be expected to have an understanding and awareness of clinical governance and be passionate about patient care and safety. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate within the team of existing staff in order to provide a complete Anaesthetics Service.

Main duties of the job

Provide anaesthetic care for a range of elective theatre lists across multiple surgical specialties, ensuring safe and effective perioperative management.

Deliver obstetric anaesthesia services, including epidural analgesia, labour ward anaesthesia and support for obstetric emergencies.

Contribute to the provision of Critical Care services, including the assessment and ongoing management of critically ill patients.

Participate in the on-call rota, providing out-of-hours anaesthetic and critical care support as required.

Work closely with consultants, trainees, ODPs, nursing staff and wider MDT colleagues to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.

Contribute to maintaining high standards of clinical governance, including incident reporting, audit, quality improvement and adherence to local and national guidelines.

Attend departmental teaching, training and simulation activities, and support the clinical development of junior colleagues where appropriate.

Promote and uphold patient safety at all times, demonstrating sound clinical judgement and evidence-based practice.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards.

Engage actively in service development and continuous improvement initiatives within the Anaesthetic Department.
