Senior Pharmacist - Acute & Emergency Directorate

Job summary
This senior pharmacist role will lead and support the Pharmacy Service provided to the Emergency Floor (Acute Medical Unit, SDEC, and Emergency Department).
This includes responsibility for the Pharmacy Hub located on the Acute Medical Unit and staff associated with the pharmacy service to the Emergency Floor.
The post holder will be the responsible for the pharmaceutical care to the Acute & Emergency Directorate including clinical, medicines safety and financial governance associate with medicines use.
There will also be operational commitment to the Pharmacy service weekends and Bank Holidays on a formal rota (currently 1:6). On Call commitment also required on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
o Lead and support the pharmacy service provided to the Acute and Emergency Directorateo Work closely with the consultant workforce, the lead and specialist nurses, and other staff members associated with the pharmacy service to the Acute and Emergency Directorateo Be responsible for coordinating pharmacy clinical services to the Directorate, oversee and investigate medicines related safety incidents in the Directorate, monitor financialand clinical governance in the Directorate.o Lead on evidence-based prescribing advice to ensure effective, appropriate, sustainable, cost-effective and safe use of medicines and promote patient-centred carefor all patients.o To lead on guidelines for the prescribing, administration and storage of surgical related medicines to facilitate good practice within the Acute and Emergency Directorate, within the Acute Trust and across the primary and secondary care interface.o To provide training and education to all levels of Healthcare professionals in acute and primary care whilst linking into national networks to learn about developments to share across the network.o Be involved in the operational delivery of the clinical pharmacy service at Wye Valley NHS Trust and be a role model to junior pharmacy staff and support their developmento To support 7-day clinical services to the Trust on a rotational weekend, public holiday and On Call (EDC) rota basis.
