The closing date is 14 July 2025

Job summary

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY***

The Clinical Scheduler is a key member of the Medical Day Case Unit (MDCU) team, responsible for the effective coordination of all key stakeholders wishing to use MDCU for administration of ongoing treatment, adhoc or emergency work. The post holder works independently within clearly defined procedures, managing their own workload to ensure timely delivery of any treatment required and associated patient appointments or TCIs. This is to ensure maximum productivity and capacity management for all key stakeholders.

This role supports the delivery of high quality, person centred care by maintaining accurate scheduling systems, optimising clinic capacity and liaising with multi-disciplinary teams. Operating with minimal supervision, the scheduler will demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and strong organisational and communication skills to ensure that MDCU actively runs safely and efficiently. The post holder may also be required to provide support or cover for other clinical scheduling areas to ensure consistency of service across the wider team.

  • Oversee processes that support comprehensive and efficient scheduling to maximise clinic utilisation and minimise delays.
  • To maintain and manage Chemocare and maxims for the use of scheduling of all treatments and the provision of information.
  • Maintain chemoschedule and ensure all treatments for patients are booked within the allocated time frame; escalate any scheduling concerns regarding any treatments or interventions required in MDCU.
  • Ensure patients referred for treatments receive all relevant written and verbal information if required.
  • Ensure additional interventions are arranged and booked prior to starting treatment
  • Act as the primary contact for the coordinating of bookings, treatment and interventions within MDCU
  • To contribute to the efficient running of the department and ensure a high standard or direct and indirect patient care.
  • Request blood tests on MAXIMS and send forms to patients if required to do so
  • Work cooperatively as part of the multi-disciplinary team, assisting nursing and other clinical staff to deliver a high standard of holistic patient-centred care.
