Job summary
The post holder will work closely with the department to provide a comprehensive split role to the clinical service for the Community Diagnostics Centre and ward based clinical service to the Surgical pharmacy team.
The purpose of this role is to support the Pharmacy Department to deliver a safe and effective, patient centred medicines management service to the Clinical Diagnostics Centre. Additionally the role will include taking medicines histories and completing medicines reconciliation, carrying out therapeutic drug monitoring, making therapeutic interventions within scope of practice, supply of medicines, final checking of medicines and counselling patients.
To be a role model for staff by actively promoting multidisciplinary team working between Pharmacy staff and those working in the Imaging and diagnostics department and Surgical Division. In addition management responsibilities will include line management of junior staff, assisting with the day to day running of the services and monitoring performance, of the service. The role will also involve making continuous improvements to the service using innovative techniques to develop the technician role and integrating completely in the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
Duties & Responsibilitieso Provide medicines management leadership for Community Diagnostic Centres and Imaging. To support Community Diagnostic Centres with reducing medicine related riskso Support Imaging and Diagnostic leads in meeting Divisional and strategic objectives for medicines management.o To oversee the development and management of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs and to ensure that safe and efficient services are provided to the Division.o To lead on the delivery of projects and audits related to the safe and secure storage, handling and supply of medicines for Imaging and Diagnostics and ensure that the actions from these are embedded to drive continuous quality improvement.o To support all aspects of medicines optimisation pertaining to diagnostic services and imaging; including but not limited to, the procurement of best value medicines, the optimal prescribing of contrast media, radiopharmaceuticals and supportive medicines.o Work alongside the, Medicines Safety Officer & Lead Pharmacists, Imaging and Diagnostics modality managers and Matrons to find practical solutions that will enable healthcare professionals create an environment that promotes patient safety.
