Job summary

To provide high-quality, patient-centred, and research-based care within the cardiology service at Wye Valley NHS Trust. The post holder will support the delivery of specialist clinical procedures, contribute to departmental service delivery, and ensure the effective management of resources within the cardiac department. In this role you will be focusing on building your clinical skills and gaining experience, which will gradually increase your independence and responsibility to enable you to progress your career.

Main duties of the job

Independently perform basic tests like ECGs, Holter monitoring, or exercise tolerance tests, within your competency and training, in line with clinical guidance and Trust policies and procedures.? Responsible for managing patient appointments, explaining procedures to patients, and ensuring the tests are carried out safely; senior staff will be on hand for advice as needed.? Patient Interaction: Communicate sensitively with patients and carers, especially when their understanding may be compromised by illness, disability, or age.? Cardiac Rhythm Management, including the implantation and follow-up of pacemakers and ICDs, as well as technical support during electrophysiology studies.? Transthoracic echocardiograms and assistance with Transoesophageal echocardiograms.? Cardiopulmonary exercise tests and the analysis and reporting of results.? Ambulatory monitoring, ECG, exercise tolerance tests, autonomic function tests, and tilt table tests.? Respond to cardiac and cardiopulmonary arrest and other life-threatening emergencies.? Electromedical Equipment: Identify faults with electromedical equipment, resolve issues directly when possible, and report issues promptly.
