Job summary
This new post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), due to open in the summer of 2025 in Hereford.
The Community Diagnostic Centre will incorporate Imaging (Plain X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI), a range of cardiorespiratory investigations including echocardiography, ECG and rhythm monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, spirometry, FeNO, lung function tests, simple field tests, sleep investigations, oximetry, blood gas analysis and pathology services in a "one stop" location to obtain diagnostic information in cancer, cardiac, respiratory, musculo-skeletal and other conditions.
Successful candidates will be based at the Hereford County Hospital site and will work between the hospital site and our CDC site which will open in the summer of 2025.

In this role you will support the Point of care testing (POCT) team to provide training, maintenance, troubleshooting, verification, stock control, distribution of stock and EQA samples for POCT devices across the County hospital and community sites including the CDC. You will also support the Anticoagulation Service by providing domiciliary visits to patients to test their INR's by POCT.
Main duties of the job
Performing a range of routine and non-routine tasks within POCT for example carrying out routine diagnostic tests or equipment support activities
Following set procedures for area of work; advice generally available from POCT Specialist BMS laboratory leads and the POCT Manager
May be required to update information systems for example patient test requests, records
To work autonomously - the post holder participates in the maintenance, verification, staff training and documentation of POCT equipment under the guidance of the POCT Manager
To work as directed with the clinical end users to resolve errors and result discrepancies, and to provide feedback both to the POCT team and Trust Managers -including community sites
To be involved in routine maintenance and able to assess whether equipment is fit for purpose based on SOPs and personal findings
To achieve and maintain competency in relevant technical and analytical aspects of service area.
