We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic colleague to join the Respiratory & Acute Medicine teams as a Specialty Doctor. The role provides a path to develop skills & competencies towards a CESR, with the potential to join the Respiratory Consultant team in the future.
The Respiratory department has a strong history of supporting colleagues through CESR programs. We are pleased to advertise 2 Speciality Doctor posts with training opportunities at Wye Valley NHS Trust & our foundation group, including South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, & George Eliot Hospitals NHS Trust.
The role offers exposure to outpatient sub-specialities such as Allergy, Asthma, Bronchiectasis, COPD, Lung Cancer, & more. There are opportunities for bronchoscopy, EBUS, & medical thoracoscopy, & service development in developing a Cryobiopsy service.
There is a dedicated respiratory ward with a NIV area. The MDT team includes specialist nurses, ACP's, PA's, Physiotherapists and more.
Strong research links with opportunitiesto be an Associate PI & PI national including regional trials.Opportunity to develop an interest in Medical Education with University of Worcester medical School.

Main duties of the job
1. Inpatients - Care of Respiratory patients and providing advice to inpatients in other areas with support of the Respiratory ward consultant, and alongside Respiratory speciality trainees.
2. Outpatients - Deliver general respiratory clinics and have the opportunity to develop sub-specialist interest with the support of consultants. Particular support will be given to developing expertise in a variety of sub-specialities to meet CESR requirements.
3. The successful candidate will be supported to develop procedural skills in pleural procedures, including medical Thoracoscopy & bronchoscopy.
4. Maintaining a portfolio and logbook of procedures. The applicant will be supported towards achieving accreditation in thoracic ultrasound.
5. Attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings and attend tertiary centre specialist sub-specialty training to meet Respiratory curriculum requirements.
6. The successful candidate will be supported, if desired, to develop a portfolio towards the CESR route to specialist registration in Respiratory Medicine
7. Participation in Mortality & Morbidity and Education and Audit meetings and case reviews.
The post holder will be supervised / mentored by the consultant team. They will participate in annual appraisal and will be provided with support and guidance for revalidation.
Secretarial support for out-patient activity will be provided. The post holder will have access to an office fully equipped with IT.
