Job summary
Hereford County Hospital is a busy district general hospital serving the population of Herefordshire, Powys and parts of Shropshire. We currently have vacancies within our team in Radiology for an experienced mammographer to join our friendly team. This is a unique opportunity to work within a symptomatic breast service whilst also maintaining plain film radiography skills. The Radiology department in Hereford has undergone significant changes over the last 6 years since entering into a partnership with Philips and you will have the opportunity to work with up to date technology. We are currently in the planning stages for the replacement of our mammography unit in the coming year.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), due to open in 2025 in Hereford.
The Community Diagnostic Centre will incorporate Imaging (Plain X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI), a range of cardiorespiratory investigations and pathology services in a "one stop" location to obtain diagnostic information.
Successful candidates will work at the Hereford County Hospital site initially and then in rotation between the hospital site and our CDC site which will open in 2025.

Main duties of the job
As a competent and professional Mammographer you will be working in the symptomatic breast service along with the multidisciplinary team.
A mammographer is expected to produce high quality images in a safe and caring manner. It necessitates working within a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest standards of patient care.
To assist in the provision and delivery of a mammography service to the women of Herefordshire.
To undertake mammography in a symptomatic breast service and the associated follow ups.
To participate in the provision of radiographic support in assessment clinics and pre-operative procedures.
The department is committed to personal and professional development with everyone supported in CPD.
In addition to holding the Diploma of the College of Radiographers or relevant Radiography Degree, you must hold a UK recognised Post Graduate Award in Mammography or Certificate of Competence in Mammography from the College of Radiographers.
To undertake diagnostic imaging as requested by senior staff and rotate through general x-ray department to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
To take part in the general management of the day to day running of the whole department including service re-design and development of the Radiology Department.
To take part in the 24/7 provision for the Radiology department
