Job summary
The purpose of this role is to act as the Clinical Safety Officer for the Clinical Systems used within the organisation
To implement, develop and manage Clinical Risk Management activities and processes that support the safe development and use of Digital Clinical Systems within the Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all Digital Clinical Systems and IT System procured and developed in the Trust conform to DCB 0129 - the Manufacture of Health Systems and DCB 0160 - the Deployment and Use of Health IT Systems.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading Clinical Governance within Digital Health including close liaison with the stakeholder and the individual system leads.
The post holder will be involved in reporting, investigating and resolving clinical safety incidents and making recommendations on the safety of Digital Clinical Systems in liaison with stakeholders and the individual system leads.
The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that safety issues are appropriately escalated within the Trust governance structure according to Clinical Risk Management processes.
The post-holder will work with the Head of Clinical Systems and the individual system mangers to ensure that safety issues and caution in use warning are appropriately communicated to stakeholders and to end users.
This post may be offered as a band 6 development post to candidates who do not fully meet the full person specification criteria at interview. In such cases progression to band 7 will follow successful completion of a suitable development plan agreed with the line manager.
Main duties of the job
Lead, promote and support the Application of Clinical Safety Risk Management standardsto the deployment and use of Health IT Systems - DCB 0160, and the Manufacture of Health IT Systems - DCB 0129
Establish new coherent and comprehensive set of business processes to direct and control resources to optimally manager clinical safety throughout the lifecycle of all Clinical Systems used in or by the organisation from procurement (or development) through to decommissioning
Lead, direct and embed the use of Clinical Systems across the Trust to improve clinical safety, with patient safety being the overarching priorityLead on the development and maintenance of the Clinical Safety and Risk Management plans and strategy
Maintain and manage the Clinical Safety documentation in collaboration with the individual system leads
Provide guidance, expert advice and support with regards to Clinical Risk management practice relating to Clinical Systems currently in use and to new projects and developments relating to current and newly acquired Clinical Systems
Conduct supplier audits to ensure ongoing compliance with the manufacture of Health IT Systems (DCB 0129)Work with individual system leads to ensure the development, management and maintenance of the required clinical safety documentation for each Clinical System used
